Langtang National Park

Located in the north of Kathmandu and stretched to the Tibetan border, Langtang National Park is the oldest highland sanctuary of Nepal. Known as the jewel of the Langtang region, this national park is home to diverse flora and fauna. The forest ranges from tropical to alpine. Animals like Himalayan tahr, black bear, dzo, red panda, musk deer, snow leopards, monkeys, etc can be found in the Langtang National Park. Along with that, this place also houses mountains like Yala Peak, Gangchhempo, Langtang Lirung, etc.

As per recent data 1043 species of vascular plants, 46 species of mammals, 30 species of fishes, 345 species of birds, and 70 species of butterflies are found in the park. You can see trees like blue pine, sal, laurel, rhododendron, Castanopsis Indica, Larix Nepalensis, R. Lowndesii, etc.

Kyanjin Gompa

Located at the foothills of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m), and Langshisha Ri (6,427 m), Kyanjin Gompa is one of the most famous and oldest monasteries of Langtang region. For many people, this monastery has a huge religious value. Along the trail, you will come across many other monasteries and stupa that will present you the cultural richness of the region.

Tsergo Ri

During the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek 14 days, you will hike up to the Tsergo Ri to acclimate your body as well to see a tempting landscape view. This is one of the most famous viewpoints in the region. You will also get to see excellent views of moraines, glaciers, and Himalayan mountains.

Gosaikunda Lake

Gosaikunda Lake is one of the sacred lakes for Hindus and Buddhists. This lake has huge significant value in the Hindus holy books. Among many tales, one state that, this lake was formed when Lord Shiva. He stuck his trident into a Himalayan mountain to relieve his thirst that he got from swallowing the poison. During the Janani Purnima in the month of August, many pilgrims visit this site.

Arrive at Kathmandu airport and you will be met by our airport representative and transferred to hotel, evening free and overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

After having Breakfast at hotel, we take you for the sightseeing tour in Kathmandu valley including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath Temple and Baudhanath Stupa and return to hotel and you will have some free time to shop trekking gear if you need.

After having early breakfast at hotel, we start our drive about 7 AM in the morning and head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabrubensi, The first part of your drive up to Trishuli Bazaar is quite smooth then the path now moves along the gravel road to reach Syaprubeshi.

After having breakfast at lodge, we start our trek and today is our first day of our trekking and it is easy trekking, the first the trail gradually ascends to Landslide (1810m.), afterwards, we trek ascends gently to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo (1960m.) and at the end your trail is level to the Lama Hotel.

After having breakfast at lodge, we start our trek; there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees, at Ghora Tabela (3000m), the trail emerges from the forest, while walking here, we will catch a glimpse of white monkeys and local birds, once there was a Tibetan resettlement project, but now it is a Nepalese army post though it has no permanent inhabitants, the trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months.

After having breakfast at lodge, we start our trek and the trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive, after crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin.

This is day to rest day to explore the area, we will visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri [4350m], directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang.

After having breakfast at lodge, we start our trek and from Kyangjin, we retrace our trekking route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela and after lunch, we continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel.

After having breakfast at lodge, we start our trek by descending to Land slide and the routes separates form here to the Syabru Gaun, we will take the upper route then the trail ascends all the way to Syabru Gaoun, From here we will enjoy spectacular views of Langtang Lirung (7245m.), Tibetan Himal ranges and many other Himalayas.

After having breakfast at lodge, we start our trek and today, the trails from Thulo Syabru to Foprang Danda (3200m.) follows steeply ascent path passing through Dursagang (2660m.) along with the view of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan Mountain and oak, Hemlock, firs forests, then the path gently ascends for some distance and follows flat level to Sing Gompa which provides panoramic view, exhilarating nature and Yak Cheese factory.

After having breakfast at lodge, we start our trek and today, the first part of the trails emerges gently ascent up to Lauribinayak and the top of Lauribinayak gives an exotic feeling, then the trails steeply ascend all the way to Gosaikunda, we follow a rugged trail with dramatic views; to the west Himal chuli(7893m) Manaslu range (8156mm), Ganesh Himal range(7406m), Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung, on a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north across the valley is Langtang Lirung.

We pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebinayak, cross a small ridge and have our first views of the holy lakes, there are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin, the main three being Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda, and Gosainkunda and according to the legend, Gosainkunda was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed a poison that threatened to destroy the world.

After having breakfast at lodge, we start our trek following the same trail till the Chandanbari (Sing gumpa) then the trails descend through pine, silver oak and rhododendrons forests with marijuana plants up to crossing a suspension bridge over the Sing Gompa Stream, the the path stretches at flat level through some human settlements and mineral water factories up to Dhunche.

Best time to go on Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Spring i.e. March to May and Autumn i.e. September to November is the best time to go on Langtang Gosaikunda Trekking. Day time during these seasons usually stays bright and clear. The weather is comparatively stable than other times of the year. The climate can get colder in the morning and at night time due to high elevation.

The trail gets bloomed up with numerous flora including colorful rhododendrons. The clear sky makes the views of the Himalayan mountains more alluring.

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek difficulty

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is a little difficult trek in the Langtang region, however, it can be done without any problem if you are in good hands. Even though the trail is marked moderate, this trek is easier than many other treks of Nepal. There are a few steep and rugged sections on the way. You are supposed to walk for around 5 to 6 hours a day. If you have good health and physical fitness, you can do this trek.

Food & Accommodation during the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek will offer you the chance to stay overnight in secluded villages in old lodges that will showcase you the unique architecture of the region. The rooms are not lavish, yet comfortable enough to spend the night. You will be provided with basic facilities along with a common washroom.

As people from Sherpa and Tamang communities reside in the region, you will get to taste their delicacies in the meal. Along with those dishes like Dal Bhat, fried rice, curries, chapatis, pasta, noodles, veggies, bakery items, etc. can be found.

In Kathmandu, you will stay in a 3-star hotel to a 4-star hotel. The rooms will be on bed & breakfast terms with complimentary welcome and farewell dinner.
