Thrilling flight to Lukla
Flying to Lukla is a lifetime experience that you will not get anywhere else. A short 35 minutes flight takes you to the starting point of the trek, Lukla. The flight will present scenic views of the Himalayan Mountains and outstanding landscape.
Trek through Sagarmatha National Park
From Monjo onwards, the trail passes through Sagarmatha National Park, which is also enlisted in UNESCO Natural Heritage Sites. The park is home to numerous wildlife and vegetation. Things you should know before going on Gokyo Valley Trek
Gokyo Valley lake Trek itinerary
Gokyo Valley Trek begins with a thrilling flight to Lukla, the starting point of the trek. You then follow a steep river valley to Namche Bazaar, the gateway of the Khumbu Region. The settlement is located in a natural arena overlooking the valley with the astonishing beauty of the surrounding mountains. You take a day of rest in Namche to get accustomed to the altitude with the chance to explore the surrounding area and villages of Kunde and Khumjung.
The Gokyo trekking continues further and follows north ups the Dudh Kosi valley, with beautiful peaks surrounding the glorious setting. The comfortable lodge is next to the shorelines of the breathtaking, third lake. You enjoy this extraordinary atmosphere, and follow it up with a hike to Gokyo Ri viewpoint, before eventually beginning a peaceful journey back to Namche Bazaar and a flight from Lukla.
Gokyo Valley Trek difficulty
Gokyo Valley Lake Trek is a difficult trek. You will be trekking in the remote region on the rough trail through hillsides, dense forests, glaciers, over splashing rivers, etc. You are supposed to walk 5 to 6 hours a day on average. The trail is also not lively as lower parts and involves many ascends and descends. Likewise, the increase in altitude makes the journey more tiring and tough.
If you have previous trekking experience that you can easily go on Gokyo Trekking, however, if you are a beginner trekker then we advise you to go on short hikes and increase your muscle power as well as stamina before the trek.
Best time to go on Everest Base Camp Trek with Gokyo Valley Trekking
Autumn (October to November) and spring (March to May) are the peak time of the year to go on Gokyo Valley Trek. The weather is mostly stable and moderate. There will be slightly cold during the morning and night time, however, the day will be more warm and lovely.
Food & Accommodation during the trek
You will be staying in either lodge or teahouse during the Gokyo Valley Trekking. Lodge has much better rooms in comparison to the tea house. Still, on average, both offer nothing lavish. You get a basic room with a few pieces of furniture, bed, blanket, and pillows. Usually, rooms are on a twin-sharing basis.
The meals will be served as per the menu of lodge/teahouse. In the lower villages, you get a good variety of food, however, in the higher altitude, the food gets limited with high in price. Especially in Namche Bazar, you can find dishes like sandwiches, pizza, momo, pasta, noodles, dal bhat, veggies, meat, curries, pastries, coffee, tea, etc.
